The Speech Language Pathologist organizes and conducts speech language therapy programs at CRMC for patients in the acute setting, outpatient setting, home health or inpatient rehabilitation facility as needed to facilitate the rehabilitation of the mentally or physically handicapped. The SLP provides direct patient focused care to include speech language pathology and swallowing evaluations as well as quality treatment with short and long term goals determined by the patients needs. The staff SLP may work with any /all patients of the following age groups based upon individual responsibility, training, and competency: Infants (age 0-18 months), Children (age 19 months-12 years), Adolescents (age 13 years 17 years), Adults (age 18 years 64 years), and Geriatrics (age 65+ years). All SLPs are required to have competency for adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Therapists who will work with children or infants less than 13 years will require specific training and competencies demonstrated prior to working with pediatrics. The SLP also assists the director of the department in the supervision of support staff, quality assurance and improvement activities and the overall operation of the speech therapy department. The SLP is required to perform the professional duties and standards of care as specified by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association, state and federal laws and regulations, and JCAHO standards.
EDUCATION: M.S. degree from accredited Speech Language Pathology program. CCC credentials or eligibility to receive these are also required. Must be able to read and write English.
EXPERIENCE: Experience preferred but new graduate fellowship candidate may be acceptable (if a supervising SLP with credentials is available). Candidate must have current licensure or be eligible to apply for licensure in the state of Tennessee.

f. FIM Certification within 90 days.
