The registered nurse who completes a program accredited by the Council on accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs, is credentialed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetist, and maintains recertification by the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists, may perform the following anesthesia practice activities in collaboration with a physician, dentist, podiatrist, or other lawfully qualified health care provider according to established policies, procedures, practices and channels of communication within the practice setting which lends support to nurse anesthesia services.
Must have current NC or compact state Registered Nurse licensure and must maintain current continuing education re-certification. Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing supplemented by completion of an approved course in nurse anesthesia.
