Develops and administers a plan of treatment for the treatment of physical disease or disability, developmental deficits and related psychosocial impairment of inpatients and outpatients upon physician referral. Evaluation and development progression of patient care programs. Occupational Therapist must delegate and administer appropriate duties to the Occupational Therapy Staff and provides supervision
and educational instruction to Rehab Services personnel.
The following is a summary of the essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform specific functions, but may change from time to time. Assumes responsibility for promoting Occupational Therapy services with referral sources and developing new OT programs. Communicates effectively Occupational Therapy patient care.
Demonstrates the ability to identify and address the needs of different patient/family age and cultural groups. Attends monthly staff meetings with no more than 4 absences per year. Exhibits appropriate professional judgment and behavior. Provides appropriate and effective treatment related to patient’s specific condition. Supervises patient care by Occupational Therapy staff. Performs quality and safety review tasks on a monthly basis. Remains a productive part of the Rehabilitation Team during the entire shift.
Education and formal training:
Bachelor or Master’s Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program.
Health Service Field 1 year preferred.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
CPR Training. Ability to help train patients in Activities of Daily Living, make appropriate splints, utilize modalities and train/aid patients in exercise programs.
Visual and hearing acuity. Ability to provide patient assistance while teaching Activities of Daily Living. Bending, stooping and lifting of equipment of at least 50 pounds.
