Southwestern Medical Center

Southwestern is a 199 bed full service hospital with a comprehensive range of services and high quality care.

Southwestern is the oldest hospital in the region and was started in October 1907. Even from that early time, Southwestern has been an innovator in healthcare for Southwest Oklahoma. Southwestern has a history of firsts for both the state and the region. This started with the first hospital in Lawton (1906), the first school of nursing (1907), the first ambulance service in the area (1909), the first operating room (1907), the first OB services (1912), The first ICU (1959), the first cancer center (1992) and the first cardiac cath lab (1995), As you can see we have a proud tradition of being a trend setter and we continue that to today with the only CARF facility to receive a three year accreditation, the only facility in the area to receive Joint Commission accreditation as a primary stroke center, one of two hospitals nationwide recognized by The Joint Commission for Significant, Sustained Improvement, SWMC’s Sleep Services program is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and is the only program of its kind in Southwest Oklahoma. Along with new technologies and new procedures, Southwestern remains first in Southwest Oklahoma.

Patient satisfaction, team member satisfaction, and responsibility to our community remain our focus. We strive every day to live up to our mission “to give you and your family exceptional service and quality care at all times.” and our vision “to be a place where patients want to go, physicians want to practice and team members want to work”
