Our Social Services Department team will address the biopsychosocial needs of the patients, their families and support systems as these relate to their medical health and mental health care needs.   Provide individuals, families, and groups with the psychosocial support needed to cope with chronic, acute, or terminal illnesses. Services include advising family care givers, providing patient education and counseling, and making referrals for other services. Cibola General is pleased to announce we are now accepting applications for our Healthcare Explorers Program for High School Students in Cibola County Healthcare Exploration Program will focus on providing high school students interested in careers that can be applied in the Healthcare setting with pre-college job shadow experience. Students should have an interest in careers such as nursing, business, health information management, laboratory, respiratory, radiology, surgery, primary care, information technology, pharmacy, public health, quality, epidemiology, physical therapy, or social work. Program will accept 4 - 6 students per session, through a competitive application process. Awardees will be selected by CGH's Board Committee. Application Deadline is April 1. There are two, four-week sessions: June 1 - June 26 and July 6 - July 31. Students may only participate in 1 session per year. Applicants must reapply annually if they wish to participate more than one year. Program hours/days are Monday - Friday, 8 am to 12 pm. Students will be required to come at 7 am on certain rotation days, but will be notified.   Students will receive a stipend of $500 per session. Qualifications for participation: The Healthcare Exploration Program is only for current high school students in their sophomore, junior and seniors graduating in the 2019_2020 school year. Successful applicants must agree to a drug/alcohol test and criminal background/fingerprinting post offer/prior to beginning the program. Applicants must be 16 years old by start of the program. Only applicants who attend a school or are homeschooled in Cibola County will be considered. Only applicants who have received all childhood immunizations will be considered. Records must be submitted during onboarding period. Applicants who are finalists may be interviewed by the selection committee. If selected, satisfactory attendance is required.
