Greet patient by name and escort to exam area. Take vital signs and brief history and notate in patient chart. Remove sutures and assist with exam as needed, per physician. Assist physician with any procedure performed in the exam lane as needed. Keep exam rooms clean, orderly and well stocked.  Schedule all tests, surgeries and referral appointments to other specialists.  Get pre-authorization as needed from insurance companies for tests and surgeries. Call patient and give scheduled time and assure that they have a return appointment to clinic. Call in or fax prescription requests as authorized by the physician. Return clinical telephone calls and document in chart and distribute as necessary.  Call post op patients as directed.  Have knowledge of medical office software for scheduling appointments and surgeries. Order supplies, make a list and maintain an adequate (30 day) quantity of all supplies. Other duties as necessary for clinic operation. LPN / RN license in good standing. Computer skills required. Department is overseen by critical care director, with direct supervision by department supervisor, who manages departments goals, budgets, and maintains competent licensed respiratory technicians. Supervisor is responsible for the daily charges of the department, payroll, scheduling, and maintaining all blood gas manuals and keeping up to date. All competencies for both the Respiratory Department and the blood gas machine will be done by the supervisor. The supervisor will be responsible for scheduling department meetings and keeping all Respiratory manuals up to date. Department EKG’s are to be filled and kept in binders and located in the RT department. Supervisor will be responsible for keeping all evaluations up to date with each therapist competencies, CPR, Arkansas license, and further information in there files. Any other duties that the manager assigns that need to be completed. Must maintain current Arkansas licensure, along with BLS and ACLS certifications. Respiratory Technician (RT) must have the ability to perform a broad range of respiratory therapy and EKG procedures required. Trait requirements for a RT or good organizational skills decision making ability, and effective communication skills. Must be able to work independently in a fast paced work environment. Shifts and scheduled days may vary according to workload. Physical demands include the ability to stand, turn, and carry while working with patients or while operating equipment. The Operating Room Technician should have a certificate of training or past experience, but an inexperienced applicant will be considered at the discretion of the OR/PACU Director. Licensed Practical Nurses may also apply for this position. He/she must be readily adaptable to the changing physical demands of the unit. Must possess physical health to sufficiently meet those demands, which include: (1) ability to stand on feet for a minimum for four hours; (2) ability to lift, push or pull a minimum of 4o lbs.; (3) ability to use hands for gripping, precision piecework, i.e. thread suture/needle (must be able to use both hands equally); (4) must be able to use either foot for repetitive movements necessary with some equipment; (5) must meet sensory requirements of sight and be able to both speak English and understand non-verbal communication; (6) must be neat in appearance, dependable, and cooperative and have a sincere interest in his or her job. The position requires after hours work according to a rotational call schedule. In addition, the RN is responsible for auditing charts and gathering information for the Performance Improvement (PI) programs which are required by the Hospital in order to meet the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals (JCAHO) standards or the hospital's internal PI programs. The RN reports directly to the RN Charge Nurse or his/her designee and provides daily assignments and makes rounds with the Physicians. If the RN Charge nurse is not available or the position is vacant, the Staff RN will assume those responsibilities until a Charge RN is available. Must be a graduate of an accredited college and possess a current valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arkansas. Previous hospital experience with medical, surgical, orthopedic, oncology, renal experience, however, beginning practitioners will be considered.
